Makes its official debut on the North American market after opening office in Miami

Airplan, a turnkey project provider specialising in cleanrooms and process lines for the life science, cosmetic and chemical industries will be participating at Interphex, one of the leading pharmaceutical events that will be held at the Javits Center, New York City on 18–20 March.

The company, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, will seize the opportunity to make its official debut on the North American market, after opening an office in Miami, FL, as Airplan USA, nine months ago.

It has been confirmed that Unipharma has already awarded the design, engineering and installation of the cleanroom facilities of its new pharmaceutical and nutraceutical processing plant in Tamarac, FL, to Airplan’s American subsidiary. Unipharma is investing more than US$50m in its new 160,000ft2 (15,000m2) plant, half of which will be cleanroom space.

Airplan USA will also deliver the liquid and semi-solid process lines, which include the design and tailormade manufacturing of 18 vessels and storage tanks, developed and customised exclusively for Unipharma.

We are a medium-sized company, nevertheless we have the capacity and infrastructure to carry out major and complex turnkey projects

Likewise, Grifols Therapeutics Inc and Grifols Biologicals Inc, both part of the multinational healthcare group Grifols have chosen Airplan USA as their 'air solutions' provider for their manufacturing sites in Clayton, NC, and Los Angeles, CA. Airplan USA will be responsible for the design and production of 31 tailormade laminar air flow modules that will provide 2,000ft2 Class A (ISO 5/formerly Class 100) cleanroom facilities for their aseptic processes. The project comprises the installation of 180,000cfm of treated air.

'So far, our experience in the US has been very rewarding. We are a medium-sized company, nevertheless we have the capacity and infrastructure to carry out major and complex turnkey projects, and this comes as a positive surprise for our potential US clients,' said Valentí Sellarés, Airplan USA’s Chief Operating Officer.

'And of course, we already have a long trajectory developing and executing turnkey projects for important clients in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, chemical and food industries, most of them located in South America.'
