Cancer Research UK is standardising on Phase Forward's InForm global trial management system to support its diverse portfolio of early-stage clinical trials.

Cancer Research UK's Drug Development Office has signed a multi-year agreement with the US firm and plans to use InForm to manage up to ten highly specialised trials each year. The organisation has pioneered the development of many novel anti-cancer treatments, including temozolomide, which is used in most cases of glioma, the most common form of brain cancer.

Cancer Research carried out a formal evaluation process as part of its Clinical Operations ReEngineering (CORE) project, an initiative that aims to deliver high-quality data faster. It chose Phase Forward's InForm system, based on the company's partnership approach and the flexibility demonstrated by its global services team. Other key factors included the technical strength and scalability of the product, the company's broad experience with oncology trials and the availability of investigators trained in using InForm.

"Information is key to our success in managing early stage clinical trials, so it is vital that we invest in the technology to support this important work," said Nigel Blackburn, director of Cancer Research UK's Drug Development Office.

Cancer Research UK will initially use the InForm solution to compare two treatments for metastatic prostate cancer.
