Custom Pharmaceuticals (CPL) is building a 'state-of-the-art' cleanroom facility at its Moulsecoomb site in Brighton, UK. The new extension will house contract packing and QC laboratories, and is scheduled to open in March 2007.

The cleanroom area will provide a 10,000 square foot class 100,000 (ISO 8) packing hall, designed to house eight packing lines including blister packing, strip packing, and sachet and bottle filling of tablets, capsules and powders.

CPL laboratory facilities will be expanded to 1000 square feet, allowing a doubling in capacity for analytical services including stability testing, gateway testing and contract analysis.

The investment will allow CPL to expand the range of contract services offered to include clinical trials manufacture and packing as well as new product development.

On completion of the Moulsecoomb site improvements CPL will be investing in improvements to its current solid dose manufacturing capacity based in Hove.

Currently, CPL manufactures approximately one billion tablets and capsules per year at its Conway Street, Hove site. The expansion of activities at the Moulsecoomb site will allow for the growth of the business and an expansion of contract services.

CPL expects the investment programme to be completed by the end of 2007.
