DHL opens Life Science and Healthcare Centre in Barcelona
Offers 1,000m2 of temperature-controlled facilities
DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL, has opened a new 1,000m2 Life Science and Healthcare Competence Centre in Barcelona, enhancing services for these industries in Spain and Southern Europe.
DHL says the centre offers excellent connection to El Prat airport and the port of Barcelona. It devotes two-thirds of its space to a 15–25°C controlled temperature area, with the other third devoted to a 2–8°C controlled temperature area.
In addition, the complex offers four loading bays, a security area for psychotropic substances, a loading area for envirotainers and an area for refuse in safety cages.
Alongside DHL’s bonded warehouse offerings such as a temporary storage facility, customs warehouse and non-customs warehousing, the new facility is also certified as an Authorised Economic Operator.
In common with DHL’s station in Madrid, the new Competence Centre in Barcelona has received accreditation as a Qualified Envirotainer Provider (QEP), which guarantees that customer’s shipments are transported according to QEP procedures.
