European Pharmacopoeia: Tackling Future Challenges of the Quality of Medicines Together

Published: 10-Jun-2016

To mark the publication of the 9th Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia (Ph. Eur.), the EDQM is organising an international conference in Tallinn, Estonia.

The two-day conference will include two plenary sessions and four dedicated workshops on:

  • setting pharmacopoeial standards for biotherapeutic products
  • new technologies
  • the control of elemental impurities (impact of the ICH Q3D Guideline)
  • international harmonisation.

The plenary sessions will include an update on current hot topics and recent regulatory developments, such as progress on the replacement of animal tests in the Ph. Eur. They will also include feedback from the workshops with a view to helping the Ph. Eur. Commission and the EDQM to define their priorities for the next three years.

This international conference will bring together representatives from European and national authorities, chairs and members of Ph. Eur. Groups of Experts and Working Parties, regulators, representatives from industry and trade associations as well as other key stakeholders involved in the quality of medicines (R&D, manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients [APIs] or excipients, regulatory affairs, quality control, quality assurance, etc.) from around the world.
