Signs memorandum of understanding with US Biocom to encourage collaboration

The Golden Triangle Partnership (GTP), a joint collaboration between the three primary UK life sciences and healthcare networking organisations in Cambridge, London and Oxford, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Biocom, the Southern California life science industry association. The MOU encourages collaboration between the life science industry in both regions, promoting international member interaction and business-to-business activity.

Additionally, the two organisations will promote each other’s investment and partnering events to their respective members, as well as offering reduced rates.

‘This MOU builds on the GTP’s existing collaborations with MassBio and MasMEDIC to extend our network to the US West Coast. The intention is to increase deal flow with companies and investors in Southern California by facilitating introductions and presenting opportunities,’ said Tony Jones, director of the London Biotechnology Network.

Joe Panetta, ceo of Biocom, said: ‘Southern California and the Golden Triangle are the two most active life science clusters in the world. We are delighted to offer our members opportunities to collaborate and partner with the UK’s leading life sciences companies.’

The GTP is a collaborative effort between ERBI, OBN and London Biotechnology Network (LBN), to provide members with potential international partners and investors.

ERBI and LBN are merging to form a single entity with offices in Cambridge and London. The new organisation will combine the ERBI and LBN membership, representing a powerhouse of commercial, clinical and academic interests, with 60% of the UK’s life science industry base, four of the UK’s five Academic Health Science Centres and three of the world’s top six universities.

The combined group will operate under the ERBI name until the launch of a new identity at the ERBI Annual Conference on 2 June.
