Live from ACHEMA: I Holland unveils new tabletting tools

Published: 18-Jun-2015

They include an innovatively-shaped tool for superior tablets and new tool management software

I Holland, a leading manufacturer of tablet tooling for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries, launched two products at ACHEMA, in Frankfurt this week.

Showcasing for the first time was XDF (eXtended Dwell Flat) a novel patented elliptical head form which has been designed to increase dwell time on an existing press without the need for expensive modifications.

Designed to run on standard cams, it can give users higher press speeds with challenging products and formulations. XDF also enhances tablet compaction and cohesion and can increase dwell time by up to 50% over a standard punch head allowing more dwell than a D-type punch on a B-type tool. This increase helps to solve compression problems without upsizing punches or investing in a new press.

Also on show is the new Tool Management System IH-TMS which allows proactive monitoring of tool rotations and tooling inventory and maintenance.

The stand-alone system allows tablet manufacturers to keep a record of tablet quantities by number of tablets, work order or batch information to ensure production is run efficiently. In addition it has the capability to archive tablet and tool images and drawings.

'IH-TMS software is the pinnacle in tablet tool management as it can maintain efficient, well-organised and in-depth monitoring of tablet production. It also incorporates an alarm to alert users of any problems including over compression, tooling replacements or if maintenance is required. It has been created for manufacturers to have a complete audit trail on production, which is obviously important in tablet manufacture,' adds Andy Dumelow, I Holland’s PharmaCare Product Manager.

The software is available in several languages and with an embedded copy of the Eurostandard Educational Suite.
