Martindale Pharma launches first licensed oral liquid solution of captopril

Noyada is available in two presentations to maximise accuracy and flexibility of dosing

Martindale Pharma, a UK manufacturer of specialist pharmaceuticals, has launched Noyada 5mg/5ml and 25mg/5ml oral solution, the first licensed oral liquid solutions of captopril in the UK.

Noyada, for the treatment of paediatric chronic heart failure in newborns, infants and children between the ages of 0 and 6, is available exclusively through Alliance Healthcare Distribution. It is a clear, colourless solution available in 100ml amber glass bottles with child resistant and tamper evident caps and specific dosage syringes and dosage cups to assist in administration.

This new licensed oral liquid version of captopril not only allows for accurate dose dispensing, but also provides healthcare professionals with a replacement to prescribing unlicensed ‘special’ versions of captopril oral liquid products. For the first time clinicians can be confident that the same formulation will always be dispensed when captopril oral liquid is prescribed.

Noyada 5mg/5ml packs contain one bottle of solution plus 1ml and 5ml colour-coded dosing syringes, a syringe adaptor to fit onto the bottle when measuring the dose and a patient leaflet with illustrated instructions for use.

The 25mg/5ml packs contain one bottle of solution, plus a 5ml dosing syringe, a syringe adaptor to fit onto the bottle when measuring the dose, a 30ml dosing cup and a patient leaflet with illustrated instructions for use.

Michael Clark, Chief Marketing Officer of Martindale Pharma, said: 'Noyada represents the fifth molecule routinely prescribed as an unlicensed medicine that Martindale Pharma has converted into a licensed product since 2011.

'Noyada has been developed using our extensive knowledge of oral liquid formulations, in line with our commitment to provide high quality innovative products to our customers and to patients, and ensuring cost-effectiveness for the NHS.'
