Pharma-Comb labels provide a way of preventing errors

The use of unlabelled syringes in hospitals carries a serious risk of error of administering the wrong drug by the wrong method in the wrong dose. In a UK hospital, for example, a drug was injected into a patient's spinal cord, although there was a clear warning on the pack specifically excluding this form of administering the drug. Although this critical message had been present at the time the syringe was being filled, the doctor performing the procedure did not receive it, as he had been given an unmarked syringe prepared by a nurse.

Schreiner MediPharm's Pharma-Comb labels provide a way of preventing errors when transferring data from one container to another. Each label is equipped with removable label parts printed with critical data pertaining to the drug. This allows the information to be transferred directly from the ampoule to the syringe.

Pharma-Comb labels also improve the documentation of therapy-related information significantly. A detachable label is removed from the drug container and stuck onto the patient's medical records or vaccination card. Pharma-Comb labels thus provide a seamless and reliable documentation chain with regard to a specific drug having been administered to a patient.
