US-based West Pharmaceutical Services pays an undisclosed amount
US-based West Pharmaceutical Services, a global manufacturer of medical products, has bought the drug delivery device assets of French company Plastef Investissements for an undisclosed amount.
Under the deal, West Pharmaceutical has obtained the right to make the Éris safety syringe, a safety system for prefillable syringes. Operations will continue at Plastef's production facility in Le Vaudreuil, Normandy, which employs around 75 people.
The Éris syringe will complement West's NovaGuard safety needle for use with luer-lock syringes.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, but West said the deal is expected to increase sales revenue by between US$5m and US$7m over the remainder of 2009.
West manufactures stoppers and seals for vials, and closures and disposable components used in syringe, IV and blood collection systems.
