Latest innovations in drug administration components and systems

West Pharmaceutical Services will showcase the company’s expertise in drug administration components and systems on stand 448 during Pharmapack Europe 2014, 12-13 February in Paris, France. West will demonstrate how its products help mitigate risk for pharmaceutical and biotechnology manufacturers and highlight safety benefits for healthcare workers and patients. West manufactures 110 million components every day to enhance healthcare for people around the world.

'As a world leader in packaging and delivery components and systems for injectable drugs we are always excited to participate in Pharmapack, the first European industry gathering of the year,' said Dr Mike Schäfers, Vice President, Global Marketing, Pharmaceutical Packaging Systems, West. 'We are looking forward to sharing our expertise and knowledge with Pharmapack visitors and together looking ahead at the topics that will drive the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry in 2014 and beyond.'

West will showcase its industry-leading products such as Westar cartridge components for cartridge-based injection device applications. West’s cartridge components incorporate high-quality plungers and lined seals that reduce the risk of variability and potential effects on drug quality, safety and efficacy. They are available as Westar RU (Ready-to-Use) and Westar RS (Ready-to-Sterilize) formats. One additional highlight will be West’s NovaPure components, widely recognized by customers for consistent high-quality properties and reliability.

Visitors will also be able to see West’s innovations in the field of drug delivery, such as the SmartDose electronic patch technology platform. The SmartDose system, which uses Daikyo Crystal Zenith prefillable cartridges, is a solution for the challenge of delivering a large-volume dose of a drug product. It is also suitable for the delivery of viscous biologic drugs and easily tailored to specific patient needs.
