ACHEMA: ARO adds line of FDA-compliant diaphragm pumps to portfolio

Produces flow rates 20–30% better than other products in category, company says

ARO, the 85-year-old pump business of Ingersoll Rand, a global leader in compressed air systems and services, power tools, and fluid and material handling equipment, added the new SD line of FDA-compliant diaphragm pumps to its portfolio at ACHEMA. The SD line pumps and transfers materials for the pharmaceutical, food and cosmetics industries efficiently and safely.

In common with the ARO EXP Series of dual diaphragm pumps, the company said the SD line yields 20–30% better flow rates than other products available on the market today and ensures material is transferred unharmed. With the quick-knock-down (QKD) design of the pump it can be disassembled rapidly making it easy to inspect, clean and maintain.

A number of advanced features make the SD pump suitable for use as a feed pump in a filling process, as a part of a 'clean in place' practice, or in a high-volume dispensing application. First, it is made from electropolish stainless steel with a 3.2um surface roughness and FDA-compliant materials to pump material while maintaining the integrity of the product.

Second, an exclusive 316L ball valve supports the transfer of high temperature material.

Third, a proprietary design ensures there is no leakage, no material waste, and a service life that is said to be four times better than traditional diaphragm pumps.

The SD diaphagm pump is available as the 1in SD10S, and the 2-in SD20S model.
