Chelsea Flower Show medal winner takes Penn Pharma back to nature

The Get Well Soon garden will be replanted at new contained manufacturing facility in Wales

A garden that won a silver medal yesterday (21 May) for its unique design at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show held in London, UK is to be replanted at sponsor Penn Pharma’s site in Tredegar, South Wales, after the show.

The Get Well Soon garden, designed by Kati Crome and Maggie Hughs at the Botanical Garden of Wales, features 2,500 plants, all with healing properties.

The pharmaceutical manufacturer says the garden, which illustrates the many ways in which plants can improve our health through ancient, traditional and modern medicine, will be a perfect complement to its newly opened 15,000ft2 contained manufacturing facility.

The firm says its facility will deliver both the clinical and commercial contained manufacturing needs of its clients at a time when the market has seen growth in the number of highly potent compounds requiring solid dosage development.

Dr Richard Yarwood, Penn Pharma’s CEO, said: ‘We are honoured to be the sponsors of such a beautiful and thoughtful garden, and are thrilled that it has been recognised with a silver medal. We welcome the opportunity to continue its legacy at our site where it will remind our employees of the essential role nature plays in the medicine we produce.

‘The garden will be the finishing touch to this fantastic facility and we are delighted that it will celebrate its valuable role in the future of pharmaceutical manufacturing.’
