To print larger sized pharmaceutical leaflets

Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare has installed a new rotary press with a reinsertion capability at its plant in Cork, Ireland to meet demand for larger sized patient information leaflets.

The six-colour Muller Martini Alprinta V74 rotary press will enable Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare not only to handle bigger package inserts, but also larger fonts to increase legibility, additional graphics, lighter weight paper and to meet regulatory requirements for leaflets to carry more languages.

Sean Nolan, managing director of Clondalkin Pharma & healthcare, says the press also allows the company to set variable repeat lengths to produce reel to reel lightweight paper products. With this new investment, the firm can now handle a larger range of paper grammage from 38gsm upwards and web widths up to 740mm.

The press includes a sheeter/stacker capable of handling sizes of 74cm x 101cm, together with a high-speed, dual-path vision verification on line system, along with variable repeat length capability and high-speed delivery system.

David Lennon, ceo of Clondalkin Group Specialist Packaging Division, said the press would enable Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare Cork to meet the market’s most demanding leaflet requirements.

He added: ‘This line will add significant capabilities to Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare’s technical capabilities and our ability to meet the most stringent market demands for literature such as leaflets in roll, flat and folded formats, Directions for Use, Instructions for Use, outserts, onserts and multiple-fold booklets.’
