Published: 30-Apr-2013

Speaker will advise on becoming compliant while maintaining operating efficiencies and margins

Domino Printing Sciences, world leader in coding and marking solutions, will be speaking at the 31st RACI (Annual Meeting of the College of Pharmaceutical Industry) conference, which sees top executives from all aspects of the Portuguese pharmaceutical industry come together to share knowledge on current trends.

The conference is organised by pharmaceutical representative body Ordem Farmaceuticos, and will take place in Viseu, Portugal, from 24–26 May 2013. Domino has been invited to share its expertise on the European Union’s Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) to aid the conference’s intention of ‘addressing some of the most pressing issues for the pharmaceutical industry’.

Bart Vansteenkiste, EU life sciences sector manager at Domino, will speak on the morning of the 25 May, when he will highlight the challenges pharmaceutical manufacturers will face when the FMD comes in to force in 2016. The FMD is aimed at reducing the numbers of falsified medicines infiltrating the legal pharmaceutical supply chain within the European Economic Area, and Vansteenkiste will advise manufacturers on the best solutions to becoming compliant while also maintaining operating efficiencies and profit margins.

'RACI brings together 150 of the most knowledgeable pharmaceutical executives in Portugal, and it is a privilege to be one of just 12 speakers presenting to such an impressive audience,' says Vansteenkiste. 'Domino has been working closely with our customers to provide advice and act as "partners in change" since the Directive was published, and it’s clear that the road to compliance will undoubtedly be challenging for many parts of the industry. We have provided counsel to various manufacturers and I am honoured to be sharing our learnings and advice at this year’s RACI conference.'
