Johnson Matthey has purchased developer of chemical process technologies, Davy Process Technology (DPT), from Yukos International UK for £40 million in cash.

DPT is headquartered in London and employs around 175 people. It also has an R&D centre in Stockton-on-Tees. It licenses proprietary technologies and sells associated engineering packages, catalysts and specialist equipment.

Johnson Matthey and DPT have a long history of technical collaboration and, together with Aker Kvaerner, form the One Synergy alliance, which pro-vides turnkey solutions for methanol production and other syngas-based processes, including those in the emerging gas to liquids (GTL) market.

Johnson Matthey's catalyst expertise will enhance DPT's ability to develop advanced catalyst-based processes for a number of markets growing Johnson Matthey's catalyst sales.
