Laboratory Informatics Symposiums in South Africa

Thermo Fisher Scientific announces dates for a series of events in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town

Thermo Fisher Scientific will host a series of Laboratory Informatics Symposiums (LIS) from 14–20 September 2010 in South Africa. The locations are Johannesburg (13–14 September), Durban (15–16 September), and Cape Town (20 September).

These events are for laboratory managers across a range of industries with responsibility for QA, data management and lab workflow with particular focus on integrating the laboratory with enterprise systems, enabling faster decision making, ensuring lab efficiencies and reducing costs. Online registration for these events is available by clicking on the link.

The events are designed to bring together current Thermo Scientific informatics users and others in the scientific community interested in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Chromatography Data Systems (CDS), spectroscopy software and Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN). At each symposium, participants will have the opportunity to meet Thermo Scientific development and executive staff and hear from customers about their best practices and key learnings.

The series across South Africa will focus on the data management requirements of a broad range of industries, including oil and gas, food and beverage production, petrochemical, life sciences, power and government laboratories.

Registration is free for the symposium and a second training day is available at a fee for customers who are using Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS and other Thermo Scientific laboratory information management systems.

Participants will learn:

  • How Thermo Scientific laboratory informatics can provide comprehensive data visualisation to increase knowledge share across the organisation
  • How Thermo Scientific CONNECTS can deliver interconnectivity between laboratory software, instruments and enterprise systems, giving a seamless link between laboratory data and critical management decision making
  • Why Thermo Scientific SampleManager LIMS continues to be the most widely deployed LIMS in the industry - and a preview of the latest release, SampleManager 10.
