NEWS FROM ICSE – Bormioli Rocco extends syringes range

Published: 8-Oct-2010

Also adds child-friendly product with increased moisture barrier

Italian pharmaceutical packaging specialist Bormioli Rocco has extended its dosage syringes range with the launch of 2ml and 6ml formats; both can be customised in terms of colour and decoration.

The Castelguelfo-based firm also revealed its exclusive patent on a bottle for administering paediatric syrups, available in glass and plastic, with an adaptor, which is child-safe and easy to use.

The rim of the adaptor attaches to the neck finish, which has been specially modified to adhere without risk of detaching. The integrated pack is completed by a childproof cap (which can also be supplied already pre-attached to the adaptor) and a dosage syringe.

Bormioli Rocco’s Plastics Division has also enhanced its plastic tamper-evident and childproof caps by adding silica gel to increase the moisture barrier effect.

The firm’s Glass Pharmaceuticals Division has developed the BormioAdvance technology, which makes it possible to produce moulded glass vials that are 30% lighter in weight. The result of this is the new Delta line of pharmaceutical packaging for injectables.

Bormioli Rocco now has three cleanrooms in use for the production of packaging for the pharmaceutical sector.
