Medical device maker Nolato is to expand its MediTech division production site in Hoerby, Sweden in order to meet increased demand.

The firm will add a further 3,700m2 to the plant, which will come on stream towards the end of the year.

"Our operations have shown extremely strong growth in recent years," said Christer Wahlquist, president of Nolato Medical.

The extra capacity at Hoerby will enable the company to close its small unit in Kristianstad. Staff will be given the opportunity to transfer, the company said.

"Nolato MediTech only has a small unit for development and production in Kristianstad. It makes much better sense from an overall point of view to coordinate these resources in Hoerby," said Hans Porat, chief executive of Nolato.

Nolato MediTech also carries out production in Torekov and Lomma in Sweden, which will continue as before.

Nolato has appointed Johan Iveberg as managing director of Nolato MediTech, who will join the company from the Trelleborg Group on 1 May.
