Silverson's new range of Ultra Hygienic In-Line mixers, launched in the latter part of last year, have rapidly established themselves in the pharmaceutical industry in the UK.

The first of their type to gain EHEDG Certification, the new UHS series mixers offer the highest standards of hygienic construction.

One major manufacturer has just ordered a series of them for installation in a new manufacturing site, while another is in the process of upgrading its production facility by replacing existing Silverson mixers with models from the new UHS series. The product launch has also seen early success overseas as nearly half the units already produced have been exported.

As with all Silverson rotor/stator mixers, each machine can perform a range of mixing operations, including emulsifying, homogenising, disintegrating, suspending, dissolving, dispersing, blending, particle size reduction, de-agglomerating and reaction acceleration. The high speed, efficient operation can cut mixing times by up to 90%, according to Silverson.

The new design incorporates a number of advanced features, including interchangeable single or multistage rotor/stator arrangements as standard, resulting in substantially faster mixing times and finer particle size.

The mixer's outlet can be configured to tangential self-draining or vertical self-venting positions as required, and the units also feature ultra hygienic EHEDG approved interchangeable single or double mechanical shaft seals.
