Taro Pharmaceutical Industries is to end manufacturing operations at its plant in Roscrea, Co Tipperary in Ireland, with the loss of 30 jobs.

Manufacturing at the sterile manufacturing plant will finish at the end of March.

The global manufacturer of branded and generic pharmaceutical products says it plans to keep the plant in "good condition".

Taro says it is no longer in its interests to continue to incur losses at the facility or make the capital investment to achieve the level of operating efficiency found at its other manufacturing facilities.

The company has communicated its decision to the Taro Ireland staff and has begun consultations with the affected employees.
