The independent contract packer has seen continue growth

Burton on Trent-based manufacturer and packager of pharmaceutical and healthcare products Surepharm Services is to invest in a new blister packaging line following a £3.65m funding package from Santander Corporate & Commercial.

Surepharm, formed in 1990 by Ian Gardner and Terry Thornton, manufactures and packages a range of pharmaceutical and healthcare products at its 50,000 ft2 site. The business produces over one billion tablets a year – over 70% of which are packaged into blisters or pots in its modern facility.

The MHRA-licensed contract tablet manufacturer, which has a turnover of £10.48m, will use the new funding to invest further in new equipment, and specifically a new blister packaging line.

Julian Richardson, MD of Surepharm, said: 'We are confident the funding will allow us to continue our growth strategy and allow us to provide value for money for our customers.'
