Ultra-high shear mixer with powder injection technology

SLIM technology allows operators to draw powders straight from the bag and inject them sub-surface at precisely the location where intense mixing takes place

The Ross PreMax is a batch-style rotor/stator mixer designed for ultra-high shear conditions and vigorous flow, an ideal combination that supports high-speed production of fine dispersions and emulsions.

Its patented Delta mixing head runs at up to 5,000ft/min and produces a double vortex that pulls product from the top and bottom of the rotor while expelling material at high velocity through the stator openings and into the surrounding mix.

One key innovation now being offered on the PreMax is Solids/Liquid Injection Manifold (SLIM) technology that allows operators to draw powders straight from the bag and inject them sub-surface at precisely the location where intense mixing takes place.

The improved PreMax is equipped with a modified Delta rotor/stator that generates its own negative pressure and does not rely on an external eductor or pump to induct powders.

Complete wet-out and dispersion is virtually instantaneous, even with powders that would, upon contact with liquid, normally form tough lumps or ‘fish eyes’, such as gums, fumed silica and other thickeners.

Airborne and floating powders are also eliminated, which contributes to faster mixing, reduced waste, safer working conditions and easier clean-up. The operator can simply dip a wand into bulk bags or containers and conveniently induct lightweight powders without creating a dusty environment. A valve on the wand modulates the rate of powder induction.
