Whitehouse Scientific helps dreams come true

A teenager from the Philippines performs in London with the LIFT theatre group

A member of the Philippines national girls’ Street Child World Cup (SCWC) football team has enjoyed a once in a lifetime trip to England, thanks to the team’s sponsor, Whitehouse Scientific, a particle size calibration company headquartered in Chester.

The artistic director of The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), who was in charge of the opening and closing ceremonies of the tournament invited 18-year-old Crystal to perform with the London International Theatre Group (LIFT), an organisation that travels the world to bring global stories to London through music and dance.

Dr Graham Rideal, CEO of Whitehouse Scientific, takes a very active role in working with street children in the Philippines.

'I have known Crystal for ten years since she was rescued from living in a graveyard in Manila and placed in Mango Tree children’s home. Her hard work both academically and on the football pitch culminated in representing her country and now being able to travel the world,' he said.

'Last year I was able to organise for Abi, our PhD student, to visit Crystal in the Philippines. They are now life-long friends.'

Whitehouse Scientific produces precision glass microspheres for calibration and is the world's leading manufacturer of single-shot glass microsphere standards.
