Airplan shows its international experience in Cleanrooms at CPhI 2016

Airplan, a Spanish company specialising in ‘turnkey solutions’ for cleanrooms, shows it's comprehensive portfolio of design, construction and validation at CPhI Worldwide in Barcelona


With almost 50 years of activity in the industrial field, Airplan shows in CPhI ‘Turnkey’ solutions of cleanrooms projects and processing lines for the pharmaceutical industry. The company’s sound experience in these areas has led to their clients’ trust, provided by more than 2,000 concluded projects globally.

“Airplan has an international vision since its establishment in 1968, because it was started as a joint-venture with a German company and progressed into the markets of Europe, North of Africa, America and recently Asia,” explains Valentí Sellarés, Chief Operating Officer of Airplan USA, the company’s subsidiary in Miami. During the event, that takes place from the 4–6 October at Fira de Barcelona, Airplan will display and present its portfolio in detail.

Amongst one of many successful projects by Airplan, a recent project in a pharmaceutical plant in Argelia, North of Africa stands out: a complete solid process area for Hupp Pharmaceutical, a turnkey solution for cleanrooms, including enclosures, air treatment, utilities and processing equipment.

In the CPHI Exposition Space, on display will be the Pro Clean model, a mobile and integrated CIP-cleaning (Clean-In-Place) system, specialised for the pharmaceutical, biotechnological, cosmetic or food industry. The equipment are custom-designed according to the needs of each client and in accordance to ASME standards and are delivered with validation.

Recently the company also has started up the pharmaceutical anti-hormones plant Atlas Pharm (Grupo Tecnimede), located in Casablanca (Morocco). It is a turnkey project that consists of 11 HVAC systems, several classified cleanrooms at ISO 5, 7 and 8 - three of them with relative humidity control below 30%. Also in this project cleanroom enclosures were installed, as well as utilities, such as water supply, steam, electrical energy, communication networks, fire detection, dust collection and medical gases.

In South America, Airplan is in charge of the design and construction of the new sterile production plant in El Alto (Bolivia) for INTI. The plant has three production areas: Hemodialysis, Ophthalmics and Injectables.

In Santiago de Chile the company has initiated the projects for two pharmaceutical production facilities: Fresenius Kabi, where Airplan carries out its new plant for sterile production, and Medipharm, a new multiproduct plant for solids and oral liquids.

In Asia Airplan is participating in the project development of a future plant for human vaccines on behalf of one of the main biotechnological laboratories from Southeast Asia.

Recently in Europe Airplan completed a project for Grifols, who have been a client of AIRPLAN since 1997. Delivering HVAC and Laminar Flow Systems for its Prolastin plant in Parets del Vallès, where the facility occupies a total area of more than 1.100 m2.

“Moreover than Airplan’s quality, there are other values equally important that make us as we are: commitment and professional ethic; improvement spirit and creativity and flexibility and empathy. It has been like this since our foundation in 1968,” explains Josep Ferrer, General Manager of the company.
