Buerkert adds to BBS products for hygienic processing

Can be used with aggressive chemicals

Bürkert has extended its BBS range of stainless steel products for hygienic processing applications in food, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, with the introduction of PFA-lined stainless steel diaphragm valves for use with aggressive chemicals.

The PFA liner integrated into these valves is a fluoropolymer that offers similar chemical resistance to PTFE against most aggressive chemicals and acids, but with much lower levels of porosity. It is also tolerant of higher temperatures, with the capability for operation up to 260ºC.

The new valves complement Bürkert's existing BBS range of sterile ancillary piping, flanges, connectors, indicators, sampling systems and vessel equipment. They provide a synergy with Bürkert's valve, sensor, process control, hazardous area and specialist products, enabling the company to provide customised hygienic processing solutions.

In these demanding sectors, where compactness, smart communications, plant footprints, cleaning and sterilisation, cross-contamination, and validation are everyday concerns, the Bürkert and BBS products deliver higher process efficiency and higher yields, by offering unlimited process modularity, the company says.

Where Bürkert links all parts of the production process, via its valve process control and fieldbus products, BBS links them all mechanically, with sterile weld unions, quick connects, flanges, fittings, hoses and pipes.

In addition to providing complete processing solutions, special valves, sampling systems, flow indicators and heat exchangers complement these products.
