EIB plans to lend Grupo Ferrer €50m for R&D

Spanish company will use loan to help finance €116m of scheduled R&D in new medicines


The European Investment Bank (EIB) is planning to lend €50m to Spanish pharmaceutical company Grupo Ferrer Internacional, to help it fund scheduled research and development worth €116m.

Studies that would receive financing if the EIB board of directors approves the plan include the development of medicines to treat central nervous system problems, infections and inflammatory diseases, oncology, diagnostics, plus cardiovascular and respiratory conditions.

There will be no environmental impact assessment by bank officials about the loan.
