Concludes that human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines given to young women are safe

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has concluded that human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines given to young women are safe, following concerns that these medicines could spark complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) in patients.

The vaccines are widely used and given to women protect them from cervical cancer and other HPV-related cancers and pre-cancerous conditions. As a result, EMA has concluded that additional controls or patient information requirements for these medicines are not needed.
