Global packaging firm Global Closure Systems (GCS) has developed PharmaSafe, a lightweight standard child resistant closure (CRC), which complies with ISO 8317 and is suitable for various products including syrups.

The PharmaSafe is a two-piece tamper evident closure, produced and assembled on specific injection moulding machines, unlike most CRCs available on the market, which are in three pieces and thus heavier.

The closure is said to be convenient to both open and close while ensuring maximum security for consumers.

This standard PP 28 CRC can be adapted for either plastic or glass bottles and is available with either a plug or a liner. It is also available in different colours and with a dosing cup.

PharmaSafe is manufactured on a dedicated production line at Astra Plastique, one of GCS’ manufacturing locations in Saint Georges de Reneins, France, which has an ISO 7 cleanroom to meet international standards and the demanding needs of laboratories worldwide.

The new closure has been selected by blue chip pharmaceutical companies and is exported to South America, Europe and the Middle East. The firm plans to export it in the Maghreb region in 2014.
