Freeze drying is used for many different types of product – foods, pharmaceuticals, tissues, advanced materials, ingredients, fractions. It is used to improve shelf life, reduce weight, create a particular structure, increase solubility, reduce decay, or make products easier to store.

Freeze drying equipment is available in a wide range of configurations and specifications with hundreds of different options to enable it to be tailored to any of these applications.

With such a variety of hardware, making sure you get the right system requires planning. There are a number of questions that should be considered at an early stage that will make the equipment purchasing process easier.

Biopharma has been helping customers specify freeze drying equipment since 1989. We have dealt with everything from small benchtop systems to purpose-built manufacturing facilities, and as well as our expertise with the systems and the science we are also adept at managing project life cycle documentation such as URS (User Requirement Specifications), FDS (Functional Design Specifications) and qualification protocols.
