Published: 3-Jan-2013

The latest trends and best business practices for the speciality, fine and custom chemicals marketplace

The premier networking and sourcing event for the chemical industry, InformEx USA has expanded its educational offerings with more than 40 sessions being presented during the global chemical event, February 19-22, 2013, in Anaheim, CA. Addressing key areas of business development and market trends, the conference programme will provide unprecedented insight and industry knowledge.

The enhanced conference programme at InformEx, being produced in partnership with the Ropella Group, is comprised of five tracks with focused content and top speakers. 'The Conference Programme at InformEx will provide attendees with the tools and information they need to maximise their business strategies and growth and give them a competitive advantage in the ever-changing chemical marketplace,' said Jim Buckley, InformEx Brand Director.

The General Business Track covers the gamut of best practices for successful CRO relationships and accelerating innovation through strategic outsourcing, developing a secure supply chain, and using statistics to optimise chemical processes.

This track will also improve business and professional development with classes on leadership training, contract negotiation strategies, processes for business valuation and exit planning, definitive screening designs, and successful sales training, marketing and public relations programmes.

The Pharmaceutical Track, co-sponsored by Cedarburg Hauser Pharmaceuticals Inc. & Federal Equipment Company, offers strategic advice on successful CRO and CMO relationships, including market and technology trends in biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing, profitable green chemistry through route scouting, raw material supply monitoring and structure-based sourcing of raw materials.

More technical focused sessions in the Pharmaceutical Track include flow chemistry in pharmaceutical, trace impurity control, innovations in emulsions formulations and manufacturing, novel high-resolution XR-powder diffraction protocol and an intellectual and patent rights panel.

A panel discussion on sourcing in emerging markets and API formulation, sponsored by Neuland Laboratories, will feature a case study by Thomas Speace, president of Neuland Laboratories, on finding the finding the right suppliers and partners in India.

The international pharmaceutical supply chain consortium, RX-360, will also lead a hard-hitting session on 'Attention Suppliers!: This is what Keeps Me Up at Night – How Rx-360 Helps (Me Sleep Better)' that includes a panel of senior pharma and biotech procurement and quality professionals from companies such as Pfizer, Eli Lily & Company, Amgen, Mylan and Sigma/Aldrich.

The Regulatory/Compliance Track, being produced by the Society of Chemical Manufacturers & Affiliates (SOCMA), will help attendees understand the latest standards and issues and the rules of the game. This track opens with SOCMA President Larry Sloan addressing 'Perspectives on the Specialty Chemical Industry'. Other sessions will provide guidance on how the federal debt and deficit will affect the industry, regulatory challenges and trends in finished dosage manufacturing, regulatory and judicial extremes, preparing for REACH and beyond, and panels on how to take control of the media and regulators during a crisis, and the effects of market regulation and EHS&S.

The Specialty Chemicals Track will provide top information and insight for this dynamic sector and opens with an economic overview of the industry by Lee Mikles, CEO, FutureFuel. Other topics of interest include a panel on 'Discovering the Latest Applications of Specialty Chemicals to Drive Technical Innovation', with David Ager, Principal Scientist, DSM Innovations Synthesis, as well as sessions on global trends and expansion opportunities, non-GMP manufacturing, sharing research on a virtual IT platform, and innovations in green chemistry and sustainability.

Rounding out the new InformEx Conference Programme is the New Chemical Trends Track, which explores global supply solutions, process intensification, detecting low-level impurities, bio-based chemicals and the use of electrodialysis to increase crystallisation yield.

In addition to the expansive conference programme that will take place from February 20-22, InformEx offers all-day exhibitor and technology showcases on Tuesday, 19 February. The exhibition floor, also open on February 20-22, features more than 450 exhibiting companies, association and media partners, in the speciality and industrial chemical market as well as pharmaceuticals and the Green Exchange Gallery.

As the best educational and business-building event for the chemical marketplace, the InformEx attendee package is all-inclusive and includes admission to the entire conference programme, the exhibit floor and showcases, catered meals and a plethora of networking and social events among peers and new partners for business success.
