MedImmune director is chairman of ERBI

UK biotechnology network group ERBI aims to play a pivotal role in developing Europe's life science industry with the appointment of MedImmune's Jon Green as its chairman.

The Cambridge-based organisation provides a platform for its life science and healthcare members to meet and internationalise their businesses. Founded in 1997, it now has nearly 400 members.

Green replaces Gordon Baxter, of BioWisdom, who is stepping down to spend more time pursuing his own company commitments.

"Jon is no-nonsense, practical, supportive and insightful, which are the qualities we look for in a chairman. Importantly too, he is looking to make a difference - and that is what we are about," said Harriet Fear, ceo of ERBI.

"Membership organisations must continually evolve and I know this fits with Jon's approach to business."

Green, vice president of business operations at MedImmune (formerly Cambridge Antibody Technology), said: "I see ERBI as essential to the development and success of the life science and healthcare sector in the East of England."

Green was formerly a senior scientific officer at the Medical Research Council.
