Safe’n’Sound protects against needle stick injuries

Plastic packaging specialist Rexam Healthcare has received 510(k) approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its passive safety device for staked prefilled syringes.

The Safe’n’Sound device provides effective protection against the risks of being pricked by a soiled needle, thanks to a protective sheath that activates automatically once the medicine has been administered, the company says.

Rexam says the approval for the device is the ‘crowning achievement of significant investment and efforts in terms of design by the Rexam teams’.

The Safe’n’Sound device can now be marketed in the US.

With more than 3,000 staff and 15 factories across three continents, Rexam Healthcare is a global leader in healthcare rigid plastic packaging and devices.
