Film coating system combines moisture protection with improved ease of swallowing


St Louis, Missouri, US-based Sensient Pharmaceutical, a business unit of Sensient Technologies Corporation, has introduced Spectrablend MB-H, a film coating system that combines moisture protection with improved ease of swallowing.

The company says Spectrablend MB-H can extend product shelf life by minimising the effects of moisture and its degrading effect on product stability and visual appearance. It delivers a smoother, softer surface, making it easier to swallow, and offers improved packaging ease.

'Spectrablend MB-H provides a more label-friendly, moisture-protective coating compared with earlier systems,' says Steve Strickland, General Manager of Sensient Pharmaceutical.

'Perhaps more important is its ability to improve ease of swallowing, which can offer manufacturers a means to improve the consumer appeal of their products and provide for competitive advantage.'
