VWR acquires Therapak

Deal extends VWR's laboratory products and services


VWR, a global provider of laboratory products, services and solutions, has acquired Therapak Corporation and Therapak Pharma Services, suppliers of pre-packaged convenience kits and procedure packs for the clinical trial, pharmaceutical, diagnostic and clinical laboratory industries.

No financial details have been revealed, but Radnor, PA, US-based VWR said the transaction would strengthen its product and service offering.

'As a previous supplier to VWR, Therapak has proved to be a leader of procedure and kit assembly, making it a great asset to our organisation,' said Mark McLoughlin, SVP and President, Americas Lab and Distribution Services of VWR.

Established in 1999, Therapak has two facilities in the US and one in the UK totalling 240,000ft2 (22,296m2) offering standard and custom component and kit outsourcing, moderate to complex assembly, process control and serial labelling, packaging of courier, medical, diagnostic and pharmaceutical products in a variety of temperature-sensitive materials and more.
