Arch Pharmalabs to open new r&d centre in India

Leading Indian supplier of APIs and intermediates Arch Pharmalabs Ltd, of Mumbai, and its US subsidiary Arch Pharmalabs (USA), of Lexington, Massachusetts, are planning to open a new research and development centre in Taloja, which is situated near Mumbai.


Leading Indian supplier of APIs and intermediates Arch Pharmalabs Ltd, of Mumbai, and its US subsidiary Arch Pharmalabs (USA), of Lexington, Massachusetts, are planning to open a new research and development centre in Taloja, which is situated near Mumbai.

Construction of the facility will begin in the spring, and it is expected to open in June 2006. Approximately 60 of Arch Pharmalabs' chemists will be transferred to the new site at that time. The new centre will consist of 40,000ft2 of working space, with 20,000ft2 to be dedicated to advanced laboratories. Part of the remaining space will feature a state-of-the-art pilot plant.

'This modern research facility, with advanced analytical instrumentation and the pilot plant will complement and support our efforts at our manufacturing facilities,' said Ajit Kamath, managing director of Arch Pharmalabs, who will oversee the development of the Arch Pharmalab facility.
