Bayer Healthcare chooses packaging seal that offers comfort and security

Bayer Healthcare had exacting requirements for Schreiner MediPharm and Schreiner ProSecure

When Bayer Healthcare commissioned Schreiner MediPharm and Schreiner ProSecure to develop a special security seal for its Levitra product, it had exacting requirements.

The company wanted a closure seal that was easy to handle and which could be used to close the packaging again several times. The seal also had to provide a clearly visible "proof-of-first-opening" and could not be non-destructively detachable from the packaging material. These complex requirements also had to be met by a single system.

Schreiner MediPharm devised a tailor-made Wallet-Seal incorporating additional functional features: a starter tab and an individual void effect. In addition, the seal uses a special adhesive adapted exactly to the particular requirements of the solution and the substrate.

The non-adhesive, handy starter tab facilitates opening the packaging. It is used to lift the void seal area, which allows multiple resealing of the wallet, from the substrate. When the seal is opened for the first time, the void message OPEN. appears in this area. The message is a different colour from the seal and remains permanently visible.

To prevent undetected removal of the seal, the rear area of the seal is affixed to the cardboard packaging with a special, permanent adhesive. Any peel-off attempt thus causes irreversible damage to the packaging.

The seal therefore meets exacting tamper and counterfeit protection demands. It is custom-tailored to the product packaging and optimally integrated into Bayer Healthcare's manufacturing processes.
