SNBL USA, a specialist in preclinical research headquartered in Everett, WA, US, says Charlie Barker has joined its executive team as Director of Scientific Services. In this position he will lead all scientific technical service activities and associated personnel. He will implement plans, policies and procedures to ensure that SNBL USA’s toxicology services meet clients’ needs, timelines, quality, and regulatory requirements, the company said.
Barker has more than 22 years of industry experience in the toxicology field, including government research laboratories, and is well-versed in many areas of the drug development process.
Prior to joining SNBL USA, he held various positions, including Senior Director of Technical Operations at WuXi AppTec; Operations Manager at Charles River, and animal care specialist as a member of the Army Veterinary Corps with assignments at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, the Naval Medical Research Institute and Tripler Army Medical Centre.
Monica Vegarra has also joined the executive team to serve in the newly created role of Director of Toxicology Support Services. In this position she will lead the husbandry, specimen management and specimen shipping teams, drive strategic plans, policies, and procedures while ensuring the quality and integrity of the data generated by the company.
Vegarra is a toxicology management professional with more than 26 years of experience in the preclinical contract research industry, including more than ten years of experience as a study director.
Prior to joining SNBL USA, Vegarra held various positions including Principal Toxicologist at Smithers Avanza, Director of Vivarium Operations at Bridge Laboratories, and Study Director at Covance Laboratories.
