Essentra will use the occasion to showcase its extended range of innovations in packaging, porous technologies and security

The combined power and innovation of Essentra’s globally recognised capabilities will be brought together at Compamed 2014 at Messe Düsseldorf, Germany, on 12-14 November, where visitors are invited to find out what makes Essentra the essential enabler for the healthcare and medical supplies market.

Acknowledging the importance of Compamed as the leading international marketplace for the medical supplier industry, Essentra will use the occasion to showcase its extended range of innovations in packaging, porous technologies and security in Hall 8a Stand C14.

New products at the show

Highlights will include Essentra’s product packaging authentication solutions, which can form a vital component of measures to meet the EU Falsified Medicines Directive, as well as the first chance to view the very latest applicator innovations from Essentra’s porous technologies range.

Essentra’s medical and healthcare cartons, including the Parenteral Paper Pack (PPP), which delivers a new concept in display boxes designed specifically for fragile items such as vials, bottles and syringes, will be shown. Also among its innovative leaflet formats on display will be PiggyBack and Triple PiggyBack, two or three folded leaflets glued together back-to-back in a compact design, and Plurium, a multi-page booklet with more space for information but compact when folded.

The new Essentra branded healthcare carton will also demonstrate the variety of overt and covert tamper and authentication solutions that can be built into healthcare product packs. Techniques including holography, Patron security inks and taggant systems as well as tamper-evident labels will show how packaging can both secure and protect its contents from damage and potential counterfeit or tampering.

Essentra’s porous solutions for healthcare - from customised fluid-handling components engineered from bonded fibre through to polyurethane foam and porous-plastic technologies - will also be on display. These deliver critical functions in healthcare products including absorption, filtration, wicking, venting, controlled release of liquids or vapours and contamination control.

Compamed show presentation

Essentra will also demonstrate its position as a thought leader with a presentation as part of the Compamed Suppliers Forum during the exhibition.

Focusing on the topic of ‘Contamination Control Wiper Characteristics & Application Selection’, Mike Keating, sales manager for contamination control products will highlight how choosing the optimum wiper for a task can result in reduced cost of ownership and increased productivity, as well as being environmentally friendly and supporting quality functions in creating and executing environmental monitoring programs. By comparison, not choosing the correct cleanroom wipers can result in the wiper itself causing contamination and place consumers of end products at risk. The talk will take place on Stand 8b on 14 November at 11.35am.

Dedicated web microsite

Ahead of the show, Compamed visitors can preview the Essentra stand online using a dedicated microsite at www.theessentramix.com where they can obtain more information about the products on show or request a meeting on the stand.

'Our expertise in offering a wide range of solutions to the medical and healthcare category will be on show at Compamed. This ranges from the new product launches in our packaging and security product range, which meet the needs of the Falsified Medicines Directive, to the latest developments in applicators for the precise delivery of porous technology substances,' said Martin Dallas, Managing Director of Essentra Specialist Technologies.

'We are all excited by Essentra’s greater product portfolio and the Essentra Mix website is a great way to engage with our customers before the show.'
