IDT Buys VH Bio's oligo business
Iowa-based Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), a specialist in oligonucleotide synthesis in the US, has purchased the oligo business of VH Bio Ltd in Gateshead, UK.
Iowa-based Integrated DNA Technologies (IDT), a specialist in oligonucleotide synthesis in the US, has purchased the oligo business of VH Bio Ltd in Gateshead, UK.
IDT will supply VH Bio's customers from IDT's facility in Leuven, Belgium. As a result, current VH Bio oligo customers will have access to a broader range of products.
In addition to its custom DNA synthesis service, VH Bio markets products used in the molecular biology and immunology fields, in particular transplant diagnostics, nucleic acid purification, micro PCR and monoclonal antibodies. It will continue to distribute its full range of other products for immunologists and molecular biologists.
IDT and VH Bio have also announced an agreement to work together to grow IDT's oligonucleotide business in the UK. The two companies will combine efforts to introduce IDT's products to scientists throughout the country.
IDT officially opened its European synthesis facility in Leuven in September 2008, and now has branches in both the UK and Germany. It has other manufacturing facilities in Coralville, Iowa and San Diego, California.
