Callum Baxendale has been named as the new product manager at Donaldson Membranes. He will be based at the company's Newton-Le-Willows (UK) office and will join the Industrial Filtration team, where he will work alongside product manager George Byrne.

David Fisher has assumed the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry's (ABPI) newly-created role of commercial director. He will be responsible for developing and implementing UK commercial strategy policy for the industry and assisting the director general in representing the ABPI views to government, industry bodies and the media.

Fisher has 25 years" experience within the pharmaceutical industry and has held several senior marketing and sales management roles at sanofi-aventis and Pfizer. He joins from Maritz, where he was European sales director and pharmaceutical sector lead.

Valerie Hart has joined RSSL's Clinical Sciences Department as deputy manger. She will work across consumer, phase I and phase II clinical trials, and will take on the role of acting head during Dr Laura Marshall's maternity leave.

Arch Pharmalabs, of Mumbai, India has appointed Dr Ganesh Pai to the role of director. He will be responsible for the company's corporate r&d activity, including the plans for its new corporate r&d centre, which is expected to open in the third-quarter of 2006.

Norwood Marking Systems has appointed Fred McMahon to the position of national account manager for customers in the pharmaceutical, medical device and cosmetics industries. He will be responsible for building awareness of Norwood's marking and coding products and developing strong customer relationships in these markets.

Malvern Instruments has added two process engineers to its process systems team in the US. Matt Malfa and Alon Vaisman will primarily support the installation and commissioning of new systems across North America. They will be based in the company's Southborough, Massachusetts office.

Dr Myriam Hassoun and Dr Hector Osuna Sanchez have joined Novasep Process to assist with r&d activities in crystallisation and biochromatography. Hassoun holds a PhD in crystallisation, while Sanchez, who will focus on modelling bio-chromatography processes, holds a PhD in the modelling of non-stationary catalytic processes.
