Thermo Fisher launches new Heratherm Environmental Chamber for high-performance stability testing

Published: 29-Jul-2025

The sustainable, precision-controlled chamber meets 21 CFR Part 11 and ICH guidelines

To help simulate exact environmental conditions for shipping, storage, or research environments, Thermo Fisher Scientific introduces the Thermo Scientific™ Heratherm™ Environmental Chamber, offering repeatable and consistent performance. The sophisticated data capture system enables 21 CFR Part 11 data management and traceability. Excellent for regulated environments, the Heratherm Environmental Chamber is available in four models that feature flexible configurations to meet the demands of drug development, academic, and industrial workflows.

Large institutions including pharma, government, and academic centers are increasingly concerned about meeting sustainability standards without sacrificing quality when it comes to their lab equipment decisions. Addressing this balance, the Heratherm Environmental Chamber empowers labs to sustainably achieve outstanding results. The Heratherm Environmental Chamber offers a wide temperature and stability range, while features such as LED lights and a water-efficient humidification system with integrated water tank help meet sustainability standards.

“Quality control is a crucial component of every drug product, and so is using products that can support the highest regulatory standards, including 21 CFR Part 11. The precise control, appropriate data management and traceability of the newest Thermo Scientific Environmental Chambers allow for increased confidence in regulating testing scenarios, which is critical in busy labs,” said Lindsey Low, director and general manager, Constant Temperature, Water Purification and Shakers at Thermo Fisher. “We worked directly with our customers to incorporate their feedback into the design enhancements. These insights allowed us to deliver a new solution that is sleek in appearance and reliable in performance, offering cutting-edge technology to lead the market forward.”

Key Applications

  • Pharma and biotechnology companies testing drug product in a quality control lab or micro incubation in R&D labs

  • Academic labs (stability testing, plant growth, animal hatching, light simulation testing)

  • Industrial and applied labs (battery, cosmetics, packaging, food & beverage shelf life)

Features/Benefits

Fit for purpose design to meet regulatory standards: The Heratherm Environmental Chamber includes data logging to support 21 CFR Part 11 and remote data monitoring needs. It also meets ICH stability testing guideline Q1A and light and UV exposure according to guideline Q1B.

Greener design elements to support lab sustainability initiatives: Peltier electric heating and cooling technology supports temperature stability and uniformity with lower energy usage and without use of hazardous refrigerant, compared to traditional compressors.

Enhanced lighting system for uniform visibility across the chamber: Vertical low-energy LED lighting includes UV light that meets ICH testing standards and programmable light spectrum with day and night cycles.

Streamlined user interface: Unique and intuitive touch screen interface enables the user to program complex tasks without the need for in-depth training and can be configured for open or restricted user modes. The user has all needed information clearly laid out at eye level.

Four feature-rich models to support application demands
