New 3-chamber bag with fish oil provides simple activation and safe use

B. Braun Melsungen has introduced NuTRIflex, a new 3-chamber bag containing fish oil. NuTRIflex Omega provides adult patients with essential fatty acids, including omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, amino acids, glucose and electrolytes for parenteral nutrition.

Because the 3-chamber bag combines convenience with safety, NuTRIflex Omega allows simple activation, practical and safe sequence mixing technique due to the unique chamber configuration and large diameter port system. The mixed bag can be administered both to patients who are hospitalised and to outpatients.

The European Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN) guidelines recommend energy, protein and glucose formulas that are based on patients’ requirements and the positive effects of fish oil enriched products are emphasized in those guidelines.1 NuTRIflex Omega’s unique lipid composition includes fish oil and MCT/LCT emulsion, and contains a high concentration of amino acids in a simply activated and safe 3-compartment chamber.

NuTRIflex Omega is available in different concentrations and a wide range of bag sizes, including a 625ml bag as a starter bag, to meet the individual needs of moderate to severe catabolic patients such as the critically ill, surgical patients and the chronically ill and it provides health care professionals with enhanced flexibility.

NuTRIflex Omega has already been launched in several European countries; more countries will follow in 2011. B. Braun Melsungen plans to introduce NuTRIflex Omega worldwide in more than 60 countries.
