3M, the science-based technology company, has unveiled its Versaflo IS Powered Air Respirator TR-800 Series, a powered air respirator that is comfortable, easy-to-use and provides the highest levels of protection for workers operating in potentially explosive environments.
The Versaflo IS Powered Air Respirator TR-800 Series from 3M, is intrinsically safe (IS), meaning that it is incapable of releasing sufficient electrical or thermal energy to ignite hazardous atmospheric mixtures. Indeed, the IS TR-800 Series complies with the stringent Zone 0 requirements of the ATEX directive1 and UK DSEAR requirements.
Simon Field, technical specialist for the Personal Safety Division at 3M says: "Whether you are mixing and granulating compounds in a pharmaceutical facility or working with combustible gases in the oil and gas industry, for example, the IS TR-800 Series from 3M is built for environments where IS equipment is essential."
As part of the Versaflo family by 3M, the IS TR-800 Series can be used with Versaflo headtops, belts and other accessories to create a CE-approved respirator system featuring: three airflow rates; audible and visual alarms; and compatibility with a wide variety of gas, vapour and particulate filters.
The interchangeability of the Versaflo accessories from 3M enables a powered air respirator to be built that is tailored precisely to meet the needs of a specific application. For those working in oil and gas environments, for example, the ergonomic design allows for greater freedom of movement in tight workspaces during plant turnaround and maintenance activities.
