ABPI appoints first Project Director with responsibility for manufacturing

James Christie joins the Association after three years at Oxford Biomedica

The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) has appointed James Christie to the newly created position of Project Director with responsibility for manufacturing.

Christie's primary focus will be to spearhead the implementation of the work streams under the Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership (MMIP) as approved by the Ministerial Industry Strategy Group.

The MMIP was jointly established in September this year by the ABPI and the BioIndustry Association (BIA) to create an attractive and innovation-rich environment in medicines manufacturing.

Before joining the ABPI Christie worked for three years at Oxford BioMedica, as Head of Manufacturing and Supply Chain. While in this role he secured funding under the Advanced Manufacturing Supply Chain Initiative to implement a patient centric gene therapy supply chain. Prior to this he held senior management positions at GSK, Celltech Group and Centocor.
