Ampac Flexibles, the flexible packaging division of US firm Ampac Packaging, has introduced Flexi-Free Child Resistant (CR) barrier overwrap film products for the pharmaceutical and consumer products industries.

Developed primarily for over-the-counter pharmaceutical applications, the Flexi-Free CR line can be used for a variety of overwrap applications where child resistance is required, while still offering easy opening for seniors.

There are four standard film constructions with varying thickness, stiffness and toughness to provide multiple degrees of child resistance.

The Flexi-Free CR products are available in standard and enhanced levels of tear resistance and in standard and enhanced levels of tear and puncture resistance. The company says the sealant technology provides exceptionally strong closures that still perform as required for either notch tear or scissor cut opening.

The products are suitable for packaging single-dose and children's medicines, pharmaceuticals, or any consumer product that demands a level of barrier, puncture- or child-resistance.

The Flexi-Free CR laminations can be produced using Ampac's solventless lamination technology. All structures are suitable for high-speed form, fill and seal packaging lines.

Ampac Packaging is a diversified, international, flexible packaging company with 14 manufacturing centres in North America, Europe and Asia. It employs approximately 1,300 people and has revenues in excess of US$300m annually.
