Avantor to offer tamper-evident outer seals

On regulated pharmaceutical product packs

Avantor Performance Materials will offer tamper-evident outer packaging seals for all regulated pharmaceutical raw material and excipient containers by the end of the year.

The US firm says these will enable pharmaceutical customers to identify evidence of product tampering and ensure that their deliveries contain official Avantor product. It will also help to minimise the risk of chemical contamination and sabotage. The outer packaging for the firm’s products will also present a consistent, standardised appearance worldwide.

This is one of a number of steps being taken by Avantor to enhance the security of the chemical supply chain. The firm is also a member of the Rx-360 consortium, which is dedicated to improving supply chain security and advancing patient safety.

In addition, Avantor monitors suppliers’ quality and management of change systems and procedures, and implements transportation security measures and other programmes to improve product traceability.
