Alberta Idealised Throat said to more closely represent human throat conditions

Copley Scientific, a UK supplier of inhaler test equipment, will launch next month the Alberta Idealised Throat, a new induction port used with cascade impactors to improve the in vivo relevance of in vitro inhaled product testing.

An alternative to the standard USP/Ph.Eur induction port currently used for aerodynamic particle size measurement, the Alberta Idealised Throat is said to more closely represent aerodynamic conditions in the human throat, supporting better in vivo/in vitro correlations (IVIVCs) within an r&d environment. It was developed in co-operation with the University of Alberta, Canada.
