Offers green packaging for samples

DaVita Clinical Research (DCR), a provider of clinical research services focused on kidney research, has expanded the capabilities of its clinical Central Lab facility at its premises in Minneapolis, MN, US.

DCR’s 47,000ft2 Central Laboratory features the latest methodology and technology, generating around 114,000 tests on 60,000 samples each day.

The lab is able continually to work with more than 1,400 assays with additional assays being validated constantly.

Each clinical project has a project manager assigned to ensure that client-specific requirements are met and communication is maintained. A web-enabled data access system allows fully compliant order entry and reporting at any time.

The facility operates in strict adherence to the recommendations of the International Conference of Harmonisation (ICH), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and Good Clinical Practices (GCP).

The company’s latest breakthrough at the Central Lab is green packaging for samples featuring an insulated zip-lock foil liner bag and leakproof zip-lock plastic bag. The packaging features International Air Transport Association (IATA)-compliant storage-friendly design, which results in significant shipping cost reduction.

The shipping process is further enhanced by DaVita’s worldwide partnership with FedEx, which delivers samples in pre-labelled specimen transport boxes to the lab three times daily.
