Envirotainer has strengthened its cold chain capabilities in the pharmaceutical industry by signing a strategic worldwide agreement with CHEP Aerospace Solutions.

Furthermore, the Swedish firm will establish four new competence centres in Atlanta, Amsterdam, Singapore and Vienna to provide the industry with state-of-the-art cargo containers.

Zurich, Switzerland-based CHEP Aerospace Solutions will ensure that Envirotainer’s processes for container maintenance, repair and handling are performed consistently all over the world, while also expanding Envirotainer’s ability to grow its cold chain solutions network in Asia and other high growth markets.

Under the agreement CHEP Aerospace Solutions will provide Envirotainer with industry-leading IT capabilities by placing CHEP Aerospace Solutions’ repair management system, ACTIS, at its stations.

In addition, certain Eurotainer assets and resources will be brought together into a new joint service, which will provide active cold chain solutions to a larger group of customers.

‘Today’s announcement with CHEP Aerospace Solutions is another solid step in our journey to build on our strong foundation in Active Cold Chain services and to expand our capabilities. It takes our global service network into a new era,’ said Gustaf Ljunggren, CEO of Envirotainer.

‘This partnership will help us fully deliver on our network strategy by giving us strong IT back-end capabilities and maintenance and repair organisation (MRO) excellence, in addition to our already strong global service network.’
